Tunnel Site Visit

The IEI Students’ Chapter, Department of Civil Engineering, SISTec, Bhopal, organized an industrial visit to Kamlapur, Dewas, on 20 April 2026, as part of the Indore–Budni New Broad Gauge Railway Line Tunnel Project. The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to tunnel construction and site inspection using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). Students observed key construction activities, including drilling, blasting, mucking, shotcrete application, rock bolting, lattice girders, excavation, and lining processes. They also gained insights into geological conditions, RMR classification, DGPS and monitoring systems, safety measures, and modern tunnelling equipment. The visit, attended by 30 students and 5 faculty members, concluded with an interactive session with site engineers, helping participants understand real-world construction challenges, execution methods, and safety practices.

Workshop on the Application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering at Sagar Group of Institutions - SISTec Ratibad organized a two-day hands-on workshop on the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Civil Engineering under the banner of The Institution of Engineers (India) Student Chapter. The workshop aimed to provide students of the III and IV semesters with practical insights into the integration of IoT technologies in the field of Civil Engineering.
Mr. Arpit Soni and Mr. Mohit Vishwakarma from Robonauts  India covered various aspects of IoT applications, including sensors, data analytics, and smart infrastructure.

Expert Lecture on Water Conservation Techniques

SISTec Ratibad Department of Civil Engineering organised an Expert Lecture on "Water Conservation Techniques", on August, 01, 2022 for the Final Year and Pre-Final year students of the Department of Civil Engineering.
The Expert for the session was Mr. H.N Golait, ( Ret. Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department Madhya Pradesh).
He explained various Conventional and Modern Techniques for Water Conservation such as constructing Gully Plug, using percolation tanks etc. Students also got a brief idea about the working of stop dams and their uses and benefits. Mr. Golait also shared his various on-site experiences.
The Students learned a lot from the session and were thankful to the expert for the session.
